The Avengers

The Avengers are a fictional team of superheroes that appear in American comics published by Marvel Comics. The team made its debut in The Avengers (September 1963), created by writer and editor Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. The Avengers is the renewal of Lee and Kirby from a previous superhero team that appeared in the comic series published by the predecessor of Marvel Comics. Labeled as the “Most Powerful Heroes on Earth,” the Avengers originally consisted of Ant-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Wasp. Ant-Man became Giant-Man by number 2. The original Captain America was discovered trapped on ice at number 4, and joined the group after he was revived. A rotating list became a hallmark of the series, although one theme remained constant: the Avengers fight “against enemies that no superhero can withstand.” The team, famous for its battle cry of “Avengers United!”, Has presented humans, mutants, inhumans, androids, aliens, supernatural beings and even old villains.
